Tour of Prosecco

 

This is a tour for the beginner cyclist but aimed at those who take their riding seriously. The Pre-Alpine area of the Veneto region is the ideal region for such a cyclist. Plenty of undulating terrain, spectacular views, captivating cities known for their art and gastronomic delights.
In this tour dedicated to Wilier, we discover the beautiful city of Basson with it’s medieval wooden bridge, Marostica, Valdobbiadene with its delicious Prosecco wine as well as many other locations. We’ll visit the Wilier head office, get to know the staff and try out the 2015 range of bikes!

Program

 

Day One
Bassano del Grappa Warm-up ride to Wilier factory
Main Route: 25km – 15mi
Total Ascent: 200m – 650ft
This is a warm-up ride to ease the legs and body into it. Some of you may have only recently stepped off a plane or travelled there by car, so this ride offers a great way to “tease” out any tiredness.
 

Day Two 
Bassano loop to Marostica and Cittadella
Main Route: 60km – 37mi
Total Ascent: 1000m – 3300ft
60km attraverso due città medievali che conservano delle splendide mura del 300 tra le meglio conservate in Europa.
Our route takes us 60km today, crossing two amazing medieval towns which have spendid walls constructed in 300AD and are still considered some of the best preserved in Europe. After this morning’s adventure, we head to the Wilier factory to check out first-hand the Wilier range and talk to the staff to glean all technical aspects.
 

Day Three
Bassano loop to Asiago
Main Route: 80km – 50mi 

Total Ascent: 1250m – 4100ft 

Today we climb! A challenging day with a climb up to the Altipiano di Asiago, also well known for it’s tasty cheese. After a brief stop for some cheese tasting and having visited some of the quaint villages in the area, we head downhill towards Bassano del Grappa where we’ll visit the Grappa museum. Careful!
 

Day Four 
Rest day & visit of Venezia-Treviso
No riding today. A well earned rest day where we have the choice of either just relaxing in Bassano or spending a wonderful day in Venice!
 

Day Five
Bassano to Valdobbiadene
Main Route: 55km – 34mi 

Total Ascent: 600m – 1950ft

Today we leave the wonderful town of Bassano and head into the famous Prosecco region, where we find and taste one of Italy’ most famous wine. This is an undulating route with one climb at the very end. We’ll visit the enchanting town of Valdobbiadene and do some Prosecco tasting!
 

Day Six 
Valdobbiadene loop to Conegliano
Main Route: 65km – 40mi
Total Ascent: 700m – 2290ft

Spectacular day’s ride through the hills and wineries of the “Strada del Prosecco”, with plenty of opportunity to savour some of the local offerings at the most well known wineries on our way home. The route is undulating with some short climbs making the ride to the 2 beautiful lakes at the end of the day even more enjoyable.
 

Day Seven 
Valdobbiadene loop to Montello / visit of Gaerne shoes
Main Route: 65km – 40mi 

Total Ascent: 800m – 2600ft

Today we ride on the Montello, known as the cycling park of Treviso. The Montello is in fact a hilly park immersed in forests and quiet roads which have become a Mecca for local cyclists. Our route is undulating with one real climb to the top of the Montello. At the end of our ride, we’ll stop at the Gaerne bicycle shoe company for a guided tour of the factory. Here we’ll see how the world famous brand of shoes are still hand-made in Italy.
